For over 40 years, Southern Image Band has been delivering a timeless blend of country, and rock and roll that captures the heart and soul of their diverse musical influences. Based in Lafayette, TN, the band’s rich harmonies, tight musicianship, and undeniable stage chemistry have made them a favorite among audiences across Middle Tennessee.
The band’s lineup consists of Keith Ballou (Lead Singer, Rhythm Guitar), Terry Canter (Lead Guitar, Steel Guitar, Fiddle, Dobro, Harmony Vocals), Tim Canter (Drummer, Harmony and Lead Vocals), and Paul Ballou (Bass, Harmony and Lead Vocals). With deep musical roots, the members of Southern Image Band have been crafting their musical skills since childhood. Terry and Tim, brothers, began playing in their parents’ band, with Terry originally on drums before transitioning to lead guitar in his early teens. Tim has played drums professionally on the road and is a skilled bassist who often fills in with other groups when not playing with Southern Image. Keith started as a drummer in a '60s rock band with his brother before finding his passion as a lead vocalist for Southern Image. Paul, who learned guitar from his mother, brother Hal and cousin Keith, transitioned from rhythm guitar to bass under the guidance of Tim.
Southern Image Band’s musical influences range from The Eagles, Alabama, George Strait, ZZ Top, George Jones, to more recent artists like Jon Pardi, Chris Stapleton, and Eric Church. Their sound is deeply rooted in vocal harmonies and a mix of classic and modern country and classic rock and roll.
The band has had the honor of opening for national entertainers such as T. Graham Brown, Ronnie McDowell, and Tom T. Hall. There have been a few other talented members of Southern Image that have contributed to the band’s lasting success. Their harmonies, genuine camaraderie, and appreciation for their audience make them stand out in a crowded music scene.
Though the band has limited its performances in recent years, they still enjoy playing at various venues throughout Middle Tennessee, bringing their signature energy and musicianship to longtime fans and new audiences alike.
